Overview

I have 30 years of assisting individuals in putting machines back in the dirt. I know why you are here. You go out to mow, you mow around half an hour and the mower goes dead. When the oil warms up, your tractor is barely able to go over a small hill or simply stall. You need a Cub Cadet 618-0319 hydrostatic transaxle to fix this. The transaxle is its primary component, which links the 22-HP engine with the back wheels. The inner 10-cc piston pump or metal gears are worn out and their only actual remedy is a complete replacement. The Cub Cadet 618-0319 is the exact factory-correct part that will get your mower climbing hills like it did on day one.

Fitment  and Compatibility

This Hydro-Gear part is the exact factory-matching replacement for Cub Cadet LT-1000 and LTX-1000 models built from 2004 to 2012. The 2006 Cub Cadet parts list shows it is part number 918-0319 and replaces the original 618-0319. It works only for the LT1018, LT1022, and LT1050 machines. Assuming the mounting points on the frame are compatible, this component fits the frame frame perfectly well with a 13AR11CP710 or 13AX11CH710 frame.

Paint color does not matter. Many other brands (MTD, Husqvarna, Toro, Gravely) used the same Hydro-Gear 311-0510 design. Service bulletins indicate that the part is a replacement of Husqvarna 166768 and 173839, Toro 104 1760, and Gravely 046371. Hydro-gear 310-0510 or 311-0510 is a matched replacement in the case of your original, which will have those numbers.

The component has Double-D steel shafts that are of .75-inch diameter. These shafts define the drive system for Cub Cadet LT1045 and LTX1050 models. The length of the right and left hand shafts is 11.39 and 16.99 inches respectively. They fit the factory design without any aftermarket spacers or hub changes.

FAQ

Is this transaxle already pre-assembled, or do I have to scavenging to find oil and parts?

The unit comes pre-filled with the factory 20W-50 hydraulic oil and the brake disc and puck are already assembled. You will not be required to make a mess when changing oil. You will however have to change your original drive pulley and cooling fan. A proper pulley puller will be required to avoid damaging the seals.

And there was a recall on these, I heard. Why should I not be one more dud?

Units manufactured between Jan-Mar 2011 (serials 0333-0348) were recalled. Those had weak drive gears. Every unit we stock is made after the change (serial 0350+), with stronger 13T pinion and 60T bull gear that fix the brake loss problem.

My tractor likes to creep forward when I am in neutral. Will this fix it?

The return-to-neutral spring or trunnion is normally worn out resulting in the creeping. The new section possesses a fresh return to neutral mechanism. A little hint: When fitting the stout spring, in a vice stretch it and insert pennies between the coils to keep it straight, and then draw out the pennies with a pair of pliers.

Can I just rebuild my old one? I’m pretty handy.

Most of the internal components are no longer found, available or discontinued such as HG71310 Miter Gear Kit. When hot, a small nick on the middle part would fiddle even though you find the gears. Purchasing the entire new outfit will ensure that you do not need to repeat the task twice.
